Initial Remote Pilot Licence (RePL)MR 7KG

Start Your Commercial Drone Career

  • Duration: 5 days

  • Prerequisite: English Language Proficiency

  • Delivery: In-Person

The Initial Sub 7kg Multirotor Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) is the ideal entry point for individuals looking to operate drones commercially in Australia.

Designed for pilots flying smaller commercial drone platforms, this course provides the knowledge and practical skills required to safely and legally conduct drone operations under CASA regulations.

Whether you're interested in photography, real estate, construction, agriculture, surveying, inspections, environmental monitoring, or starting your own drone business, the Sub 7kg RePL provides a solid foundation for your professional journey.

Delivered by active commercial drone operators, our training combines CASA-compliant theory with practical flight instruction and real-world industry experience.

Why Choose the Sub 7kg RePL?

For many operators, a drone under 7kg is all that's required to perform their work safely and effectively.

The Sub 7kg RePL allows you to legally operate a wide range of popular commercial drones, including:

  • DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Series

  • DJI Mavic 3 Thermal

  • DJI Air 3 Series

  • DJI Mini Series (commercial operations)

  • Many surveying, inspection and imaging platforms under 7kg

For pilots entering the industry, this qualification offers a lower-cost pathway into commercial operations while still providing nationally recognised aviation training.

How Does It Differ From the <25kg RePL?

The main difference is the maximum aircraft weight you are authorised to operate.

The Sub 7kg RePL is limited to multirotor aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of less than 7kg.

The <25kg RePL allows operation of larger commercial aircraft, including enterprise platforms commonly used in:

  • Mining operations

  • Large-scale surveying and mapping

  • Utility inspections

  • Industrial inspections

  • Heavy payload applications

If you expect to operate larger enterprise drones in the future, the <25kg RePL may be the better long-term option.

What This Qualification Allows You To Do

  • Legally conduct commercial drone operations in Australia

  • Work under a CASA-certified ReOC

  • Perform aerial photography and videography

  • Conduct basic surveying and mapping operations

  • Carry out inspections and monitoring activities

  • Operate drones for agriculture, construction and environmental projects

  • Build experience toward advanced qualifications and operational approvals

Is an AROC Required?

For most sub-7 kg drone operators, an Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC) is not required.

If your operations are conducted:

  • Away from controlled aerodromes

  • Under standard operating conditions

  • On private property

  • On construction sites

  • In agricultural environments

  • In remote locations

You may never need aviation radio communications.

However, if you intend to operate in controlled airspace, near controlled aerodromes, or pursue advanced operational approvals, an AROC can be completed at a later date.

Who Is This Course For?

  • New drone pilots entering the industry

  • Photographers and videographers

  • Surveyors and GIS professionals

  • Construction and infrastructure personnel

  • Environmental consultants

  • Agricultural operators

  • Small business owners looking to offer drone services

This course provides the knowledge, practical skills, and CASA-recognised qualification needed to begin operating commercially and build a career in the rapidly growing drone industry.

The fastest and most affordable pathway to becoming a CASA-certified commercial drone pilot.
