Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) Initial <25kg + AROC

What Makes the Initial <25kg RePL + AROC Different?

  • Duration: 5 Days

  • Prerequisite: English Language Proficiency

  • Delivery: In-Person

While many entry-level operators are restricted to drones under 7kg, the < 25 kg RePL allows pilots to legally operate a much broader range of commercial drone platforms, including larger aircraft commonly used for surveying, mapping, asset inspections, mining, agriculture, emergency services, and industrial operations.

Popular drones covered under this licence include:

  • DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Series

  • DJI Matrice 30 Series

  • DJI Matrice 350 RTK

  • DJI Matrice 4 Series

  • Other multirotor aircraft up to 25kg MTOW

This qualification also provides a stronger foundation for pilots seeking advanced operational approvals such as:

  • Controlled Airspace Operations

  • Extended Visual Line of Sight (EVLOS)

  • Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS)

  • Operations Near People

  • Night Operations

  • Chief Remote Pilot pathways

Why is the AROC Included?

  • The Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC) is an aviation qualification issued by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

  • An AROC authorises you to legally operate aviation VHF radio equipment and communicate with Air Traffic Control (ATC), aerodrome operators, and other aircraft when required.

  • This qualification becomes particularly important when:

  • Operating in controlled airspace

  • Conducting operations near airports and aerodromes

  • Applying for advanced operational approvals

  • Working under a ReOC conducting complex operations

  • Supporting BVLOS and EVLOS activities

  • Many commercial drone employers now consider the AROC an essential qualification because it demonstrates a professional understanding of aviation communication procedures and airspace integration.

Career Opportunities

Holding a <25kg RePL and AROC demonstrates that you have completed nationally recognised aviation training and are prepared to operate in professional environments where safety, compliance, and communication are critical.

Whether your goal is to work in mining, infrastructure inspection, surveying, mapping, environmental monitoring, agriculture, emergency services, or defence, this qualification provides a strong foundation for a long-term career in the drone industry.
