Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) Initial <25kg

Commercial Drone Training for Real-World Operations

  • Duration: 5 Days

  • Prerequisite: English Language proficiency

  • Delivery: In-Person

The Initial <25kg Multirotor Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) is Australia's most recognised commercial drone qualification and is the starting point for a professional career in the drone industry.

This course provides the training required to legally operate multirotor drones up to 25kg for commercial purposes and is suitable for those seeking employment or business opportunities in industries such as mining, construction, agriculture, environmental management, surveying, mapping, asset inspection, and emergency services.

Delivered by active commercial drone operators, this course combines CASA-compliant theory and practical flight training with real-world industry knowledge to prepare you for professional drone operations.

Why Choose the <25kg RePL?

Many people ask why they should obtain a <25kg RePL rather than a smaller-category qualification.

The answer is simple: flexibility.

The <25kg RePL allows you to operate a much wider range of commercial drone platforms, including many aircraft commonly used across Australian industry.

Popular aircraft covered under this qualification include:

  • DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Series

  • DJI Matrice 4 Series

  • DJI Matrice 30 Series

  • DJI Matrice 350 RTK

  • Other multirotor aircraft up to 25kg MTOW

This licence also creates a pathway toward advanced operational approvals and specialised endorsements as your career progresses.

Why Doesn't This Course Include an AROC?

Not every drone pilot requires an Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC).

If your operations are conducted in:

  • Mining leases

  • Remote locations

  • Private property

  • Agricultural environments

  • Surveying and mapping projects

  • Infrastructure inspections away from controlled aerodromes

You may never need to communicate using aviation radio equipment.

For many commercial operators, particularly those working on mine sites or in remote regions, an AROC is simply not required for their day-to-day operations.

By offering the RePL separately, students can reduce their initial training costs and only obtain an AROC if their future operations require it.

Is an AROC Required Later?

If you intend to:

  • Operate in controlled airspace

  • Conduct operations near controlled aerodromes

  • Apply for certain advanced operational approvals

  • Work with organisations that require aviation radio communications

  • you can complete an AROC course at any time in the future.

  • Many pilots begin with the <25kg RePL and add the AROC later when their operational requirements expand.
